Katherine Klayer 92 passed away July 17 2009. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Wednesday July 29th at 5:00 pm at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona chapel with Rev. Mark Spivey of Volusia Flagler Hospice officiating.
Katherine was born September 1 1916 to John and Elizabeth Pumpple in Cincinnati Ohio. She was married to August Klayer for 67 years and Katherine spent the majority of her life as a homemaker in her own home enjoying sports at professional and college levels tennis and shuffleboard which included a number of awards won by both Katherine and August. The family moved to the area in 1968. August passed away in 2004 and Katherine most recently resided at Indigo Palms Assisted Living Facility. The family would like to thank the staff there for their excellent care of Katherine.
Katherine is survived by two sons: William (Patricia) Klayer of New Smyrna Beach and David (Shirley) Klayer of Hebron KY; Four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
