Karol "Karl" Siedel 89 a long-time resident of Edgewater FL passed away February 13 2010 after a long illness. He was born in Chicopee MA on October 27 1920. As a young man he proudly served our country in the 2nd Marine Division serving in the South Pacific during WWII. After returning from the service he was employed at Uniroyal Tire Company for 36 years where he served on the Employees Negotiating Board for Local 11-AFL CIO and was also Chairman of the Veterans Committee for returning Veterans. In addition he served as Commissioner of City Parks and Playgrounds for the Department of Chicopee for five years. He has one son and was active for many years as a little league baseball coach. In 1976 he and his wife Doris to whom he was married 64 years relocated to Edgewater FL. Together they originated "The Shipmates Square Dance Club of Edgewater" and managed it for ten years until the city adopted the self insurance program. Karl enjoyed fishing and square dancing and was a member of the Hacienda Del Rio Veterans Club in Edgewater as well as the American Legion Post 285. He will be remembered most for his outgoing personality wonderful sense of humor his love for animals and his thoughtful nature. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Hacienda Del Rio. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Doris; son Karl Jr. and his wife Linda three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren all of Connecticut.
