Karl A. Selter, a resident of Deland for over 30 years, died on January 5, 2014. Mr. Selter was born in Sunbury, Pennsylvania on August 25, 1912. After high school he established a twelve piece orchestra, mainly touring the northeast for five years. After dissolving the orchestra he joined the Montgomery Ward Company as a trainee and rose to management in a short time. After managing numerous stores, he became General Merchandise Manager for the Mail Order Division in Denver, Colorado and subsequently Albany, New York. He married Francis Lovvorn of Cedartown, Georgia in 1942 and had four (4) children. In 1953 Mr. Selter joined the Joseph Horne Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania eventually becoming Vice President of Branch Store Operations. Me Selter retired 18 years later to become the owner of his own business in Boca Raton, Florida. An avid traveler and adventurer Mr. Selter enjoyed the outdoors and visiting other parts of North America. Mr Selter was a member of the Deland Elks and Moose Lodges, Deland Country Club and St. Peters Catholic Church. Mr. Selter is survived by his wife Francis, four (4) children and 8 grand and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of Volusia Flagler. Funeral Services are under the care of Lohman Funeral Home Deland.
