Karl Joseph Selter, a longtime resident of Deland, quietly passed away on March 16, 2014. The son of Karl A Selter (deceased) and Frances L Selter, also of Deland, Florida, he is survived by his brother, Jack, and sisters, Mary and Lucinda.
Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, on September 6, 1945, he graduated from South Hills Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa, where he graduated with a degree in History. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a communications specialist in Vietnam. Upon his Honorable Discharge, he worked in government and industry for 30+ years. He was awarded his Certified Financial Planner credentials in 1994, and served clients until his retirement in 2012. He enjoyed traveling, golf and relaxing with his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local or the national Veteran of Foreign Wars, the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches or Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia-Flagler.
A brief memorial service beginning at 12:00 AM will be held at Lohman Funeral Home, 935 East New York Avenue, Deland, Florida 32724, on Tuesday March 25, 2014
