June G. Smith 90 of Port Orange went to her eternal rest on Thursday September 30 2010 at Emeritus Assisted Living of Port Orange. June was born in Port Arthur Texas on April 4 1920 to Thomas A. Goodlad and Thelma C. Salyer. In 1943 June married the love of her life Robert G. Smith U.S.N.. June and Robert raised their family in various Navy towns including Annapolis MD; Norfolk VA; San Diego CA; Newport RI; and Pearl Harbor HI. They moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1972. Always passionate about the water June was a member of the Halifax River Yacht Club a volunteer for the Navy Relief Society and a docent at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Restoration Project. She will be most remembered for her strong character love of Bridge and travel and her love for her family. Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 67 years Robert of Port Orange Florida; sons Robert Smith Jr. (Marsha) of Tucson Arizona and David Smith (Cherie) of Camden South Carolina; four beloved grandchildren Ballard Smith Lauren Smith Shannon Smith and William Smith; three great-grandchildren Wesley Smith Joelle Smith and Ethan Smith.
