Julie V. Borkowski, 68, of Daytona Beach, Florida passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on July 28, 1957 in Bar Harbor, Maine.  Julie was a "Mainer!" through and through – she not only grew up in Maine, she enjoyed the way of life – the blueberries, lobsters, and the beach.  Julie lived in Connecticut for 30 years along the shoreline. She connected with her community when she owned a mechanical shop Protec in Groton, Connecticut and later managed Groton Auto Body for many years.  She worked for MetLife Insurance for decades, making many friendships along the way.  Most importantly in her life was her family. When she met her husband, Steve, she found the love of her life and her best friend. Julie is predeceased by her son Jason M. Flynn who she had an unconditional love for.

After retiring at Margaritaville, Julie had a strong community of friends and enjoyed the retired lifestyle. Julie was a true fighter, she faced every moment with courage, resilience, and unwavering determination until the very end.

Julie is survived by her best friend and husband, Stephen Borkowski; stepdaughter, Samantha Borkowski; grandson Derek Borkowski; stepdaughter, Amanda Zeilik; granddaughter, Adriana Zeilik; grandson, Alexander Zeilik, IV.; sister, Wendy McLean; she also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and other extended family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her son, Jason M. Flynn; mother, Phyllis Gordon Richardson, father, Wallace Richardson, brother, Mark Richardson, and sister, Kathy Fasseas.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer in Maine.  Further details will be communicated with friends and family at a later date.
