Obituary

Julianna Withey 83, of Palm Coast, Florida passed away on November 1, 2013 at The Sterling House, Palm Coast, Florida. A private service will be held in the near future.

Julianna was born in Vaja, Hungary on March 15, 1930 to the late Sandor and Zsuzanna Tisza. Julianna was the youngest of her 10 siblings. She was raised in Hungary where she took a position working as a school teacher. At the age of 26, Julianna moved to New Jersey and in 1971 she earned her master's degree in psychology from Montclair State University.

In 1970, she married John Withey. Julianna was employed as a high school teacher then promoted to the Department Chairman of World Languages at Jefferson Township High School, N.J., retiring in 1988. In 1989, Julianna and John relocated to Florida. They were members of the Memorial Presbyterian Church, St. Augustine.

Julianna will be remembered for her loving and kind disposition and her genuine pleasure in spending time with everyone she knew. Her love of children will be remembered and will live on in all of the students she was fortunate to teach. Julianna is the author of The Tenth Child, a memoir of her years in Hungary.

Julianna was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and beloved husband of 40 years, John Withey in 2010. She is survived by her sister Andrasne Dobos of Hungary, Beloved Niece Ilu Kun of Hungary and a host of other family and friends. Julianna also leaves to mourn a very special friend whose friendship has lasted over 45 years, Elaine Hogue and her children of New Jersey.

Donations may be made in Julianna's name to the Santa Fe College "John Withey Collection Geological Museum, Gainesville Florida, or the Memorial Presbyterian Church, St. Augustine, Florida.

Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast. Condolences may be shared with the family through this online guestbook.
