Judith (Judy) May Johnston, 64, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on August 10th, 2019 at
11:30pm. She spent the last several years of her life suffering from Progressive Supranuclear
Palsy; a Parkinsonian disorder for which there are no medications or cure. It is known for its
rapid digression and trapping a vibrant mind in a crippled body. It was with both sorrow and joy
that we watch God take her home and restore her to wholeness. Her Celebration of Life will be
held on Friday, August 16th at noon at Lohman Funeral Home in Port Orange, FL. This will be
preceded by a time of fellowship and viewing from 10am to noon. She will be laid to rest in the
Peace Garden at Deland Memorial Gardens in Deland, FL.
Judy was born on November 27, 1954 to missionary parents in Panama. She is survived by her
older sister Donna Beach and younger brother Tim Johnston. She spent her childhood on
various missionfields. Then enjoyed making the Chicago area her home during her teen years
where she made friends for life through Camp Awana and other activities. She will always be
remembered for her guitar playing and singing. She was married on June 3, 1977 and by the
next May she welcomed her first son, Jedidiah Johnston. He was followed by Ginger Fagan,
Jesse Johnston, Duke Johnston, Lynnette (Nettie) Hills, and Alayna Johnston. She is survived
by all 6 of her children and 13 grandchildren. Over the years she welcomed numerous little ones
into her home and heart as a licensed foster home for children being placed for adoption. She
was a pioneer in homeschooling her children and encouraged many young moms as they
ventured into it for the first time. To many, she will always hold the title as THE "bread lady" due
to her gift for making fresh homemade bread. Others will remember her for her gifted artwork
that brought understanding and hope to many. Her greatest desire was to see her children and
grandchildren walking with the Lord. To that end she was a faithful prayer warrior. Even in her
last days when she couldn't move or speak freely she found a way to impact and bring joy to
those who knew her. She was deeply loved and will be missed by so many, but we rejoice in
knowing she is fully healed and dancing with her Savior. Psalm 23, her favorite scripture,
beautifully illustrates how her Shepherd led her through the shadow of death, and has now
welcomed her as His child to dwell in His home forever.
