Judith "Judy" L. DeCarlo 77 of Ormond Beach Florida passed away Monday
October 26 2009 at Florida Hospital Oceanside. She will be reunited with
her beloved husband Frank J. DeCarlo who passed away in 2000.
Daughter of the late Harold and Marion Durkee of Pittsfield MA in the
Berkshires Judith graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1950.
After 50 years in the Berkshires Judith and Frank retired to Florida
where his brother the late Paul DeCarlo had lived with his family.
Judith's 3 children later established careers in Florida in order to be close to
the parents they so loved.
Judith liked reading politics travel baseball playing cards and was also
a member of the ITAM Lodge in Pittsfield. She is remembered for her
outrageous wit and dry sense of humor which brought laughter to those
around her and for gladly lending a helping hand to others.
With inspiring grace and courage Judith overcame cancer in 2006
enjoying good health until only recently.
Left to cherish her precious memory are 3 children:
Dale Anne DeCarlo with whom she shared a home in Ormond Beach FL
Frank DeCarlo Jr. of Parkland FL and Dean A. DeCarlo of Orlando FL
3 step-grandchildren: Mekenzi and Noah of Parkland FL and Elena
Youngblut of Mount Dora FL.
Judy will be dearly missed by 5 sisters and 3 brothers and their families
who she adored and shared so many laughter-filled years. 5 sisters: Carolyn
Phillips of Pittsfield MA Laraine Taylor and Lynn Stedman of Dalton MA
Ardith Shadic of Copake NY and Karen Gilbert of Ruskin FL. 3 brothers:
Kent Durkee of Cedartown GA Lane Durkee of Marietta GA and Norman
Durkee of Pittsfield MA. She was predeceased by her sister Janice Twarog
of Pittsfield MA.
In lieu of traditional formalities Judith's humble wish was the hope that
family and friends would remember the happy times and warm memories as
she had remembered sharing with them.
