Juanita "Mom" or "Nanny" Porter passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on May 5, 2019.  She was born on March 28, 1942 in Kinard, FL to Jordan and Mami Smith.  Growing up in Homerville, GA alongside her older sisters Pauline, Geraldine, Joyce and brother Joe, created a foundation of "family and love" that she shared with others her entire life.

Juanita met Lawrence in 1969 and they recently celebrated 51 years of marriage.  She was a caring and much-loved Mom of two daughters, Anita and Shasta and two sons, Larry, Jr. and the late Heyward.  Her 'fifth child' was her niece Denise.  Many of her children's friends considered her their "Mom" too!

She enjoyed gardening, cooking for family and going to yard sales.  Her favorite thing to do though was spending time with her grandchildren, Zack, Zoey, Evan, Landon and Caleb.  Her happy, outgoing personality lifted those around her up in happy or sad times.  She influenced so many in a positive way and will be truly missed!

Juanita is survived by her husband Lawrence; daughter Anita and her husband Tony; son Larry and his wife Samantha; daughter Shasta and her husband Ryan; sisters Pauline and Joyce; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many close friends that she cared for greatly.

Services will be held on Thursday May 9 ^th at  Lohman's Funeral Home, located at 1201 Dunlawton Avenue in Port Orange, FL.  Visitation begins at 12:00PM, with the Memorial Services following at 1:00PM.
