Juan C. Arrieta 55 of Daytona Beach passed away on Saturday Sept. 14 2013. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday Sept. 20 2013 between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona 1423 Bellevue Ave. Daytona Beach Florida. A Funeral Mass will be held at The Basilica of Saint Paul Catholic Church on Saturday Sept. 21 at 9 a.m.
Juan was born in San Andres De Echevarria Spain on February 12 1958 to Jesusa (Mendiolea) and Juan Arrieta. He was a very talented sportsman and played Jai-Alai professionally. Juan relocated to the United States in the early 1970's as a part of his career. He settled in the Daytona Beach area where he married and raised his family. He locally coached varsity soccer for 16 years at Spruce Creek High School. He was a devoted coach and revered by his players and colleagues; and was awarded with honor of Volusia County Coach of the Year several times. Juan was also a very successful entrepreneur owning several small businesses throughout the years. Locally he owned and operated Classic Home Furniture in Holly Hill. Juan was known for his witty sense of humor dedication to sport but most of all love for his family.
He is preceded in death by his father Juan Arrieta; sister Elena Gandiaga and his beloved wife Melinda Arrieta. Juan is survived by his mother Jesusa Arrieta; brother Jesus (Mari Cruz) Arrieta; sons Lander Arrieta and Yon Arrieta; many extended family members and friends.
A 5k run will be held in Juan's honor at 8:00 A.M. on Saturday October 19 2013 and will begin at Frank Rendon Park 2705 S. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to The American Cancer Society PO Box 22718 Oklahoma City Oklahoma 73123-1718.
