Joyce A. Justin, died peacefully in her kitchen, the heart of her home, on April 9.

Joyce was born on September 2, 1953, to Marie & Tom (Jushinskas) Justin in Waterbury, CT. She lived in Plymouth, CT and graduated from Terryville High School in 1971. She attended Mattatuck Community College in Waterbury and received an Associates Degree. She worked as a medical secretary for many years.

The family followed her brother Rick, who worked at Cape Canaveral, to Florida in 1989. She decided to return to school and earned her RN from Daytona Community College in 1991. Joyce earned her BA years later. She worked at Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City. She was a strong and skilled nurse, expertly guiding young nurses in her charge and effectively caring for her patients.

Joyce loved to cook. Just ask anyone about her culinary talents, who received her homemade spaghetti sauce & meatballs, brownies, lemon meringue pie or holiday treats!

Halloween was her favorite holiday. Decorations of pumpkins, black cats, and Jack, from The Nightmare Before Christmas, filled her home. Trick or Treater's would be met by Witch Joyce and costumed freinds that gave out candy and celebrated with Margaritas.

Joyce loved animals. She had a big white, fluffy cat named Blueberry, named for his blue eyes. She fed ferrel cats. They would come to her garage window and cry. She opened the window and they entered atop her closed washer top where there was always a warm dry bed and yummy food. We found many cans of Friskies in her cabinets. There were also treats for the neighborhood dogs.

She is survived by her sister Sandra and Brother-in-law, James, who live in CT.

A Celebration of Life for Joyce will be held on May 29 at a 10 AM Mass at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 1310 Maximilian St. Deltona. Interment to follow at Deltona Memorial Gardens.
