Joyce Lee Ritchey Edwards of Port Orange was born May 14, 1935, in Lexington, Kentucky to Frank R. Ritchey Sr. and Ruby Craig Ritchey. She went home to be with her Lord on December 13, 2022, at the age of 87. Joyce has two brothers, Frank R. Ritchey Jr. (Aggie), of Jacksonville (Both Deceased) and survived by brother Glenn S. Ritchey (Connie), of Daytona Beach.

Joyce and husband Robert (Bob) Edwards (Deceased) were married 50 years. She is survived by 5 children: daughter Gayle Sullivan (Ron), sons Robbie Edwards (Kelly), Michael Edwards (Sandy), Ronnie Edwards (Mariann) and daughter Lori Strong (David). At the time of her passing Joyce had 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

As a member of Daytona Beach Baptist Church she also showed her love for children by managing their daycare center for many years as well as being on the Ladies Fellowship Committee. Among her other places of employment include World Color International in Ormond Beach, Security First Bank in Daytona Beach, and Miracle Ear in Port Orange.

Joyce was well known for her fun personality and legendary quick-witted sense of humor. There are so many funny stories involving Joyce that it would take the whole newspaper to tell only a fraction of them.

As most of the Ritchey family, Joyce was a wonderful musician. She played the piano "by ear", meaning Joyce could listen to a song and immediately play it. Her amazing musical abilities added to her entertaining personality made any of her get-togethers the place to be. Joyce's home was always filled with fun and laughter! Anyone that met Joyce loved her and would say just being around her was the most fun.

Joyce was a published writer of poetry with a book signing at Books-A-Million on July 17, 1993. Her book is entitled, "Whispers from The Soul".

Joyce loved her family more than life itself. Every holiday was a jubilee with her family filled home enjoying time with each other. During Christmas season, she would lead family and friends singing Christmas carols. And the traditional Christmas Eve chili dinner was always a highlight.

The funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28 at 1pm.
