Joseph Edward Teahan 83 of Ormond Beach FL died peacefully on Tuesday September 4 2012. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday Sept. 8th at 11:00 am at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd. Ormond Beach. FL Joe was born in Holyoke Massachusetts to Irving and Julia Teahan. He proudly served a four year tour in the Naval Air Corps where he was based in the United States and Africa. Joe graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master's Degree in Industrial Management. He joined the General Electric Co. in 1954 where he completed both the Company's Engineering and Technical Marketing Programs and held a number of sales and marketing positions in six different businesses and in as many locations in the United States. In 1959 he was promoted to Manager of Strategic Planning for the Electronic Component Sales Division and then moved up to manage the Division's Southeastern Region. In 1972 Joe became the manager of G.E.'s Electronic Component Sales Operation in Europe and the Middle East with headquarters in Amsterdam Netherlands. In 1974 his headquarters was moved to Brussels Belgium. During his stay in Europe eight offices in eight countries were established along with four import/export operations. In 1977 he moved from Brussels to G.E.'s international headquarters in New York City to develop a worldwide recruiting training and placement program for engineering graduates from over 28 countries. The program was called the International Marketing Program and became G.E.'s premier training and development program for foreign nationals. He also established technical training courses and a professional development program for G.E. professionals as well as private business managers and facilitated these courses in England Germany Greece Hawaii Malaysia Philippines Saudi Arabia Singapore and the United States. In 1982 he became a charter management member of the General Electric Trading Company headquartered in New York City. He was a member of the American Management Association The Sales Executives Club of New York The National Society of Sales Training Executives where he won the Editorial Award for Excellence The American Training and Development the Chamber of Commerce and was also a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus in Georgia. He formed the InterContinental Resources Inc. (ICR Inc.) in 1984. This is a consulting organization which focused on domestic and international business development sales and marketing training and distributor selection and management. ICR Inc.'s clients ranged from highly diversified companies like General Electric Company to small highly specialized companies: from universities to quasi-military organizations like the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Joe was a member of the International Executive Service Corps (IESC). He served as an Executive Recruiter and Field Associate for the IESC and completed two volunteer executive assignments on behalf of IESC in the Caribbean during the 1987-88 period. In 1994 IESC selected him as a management consultant to three Russian companies located in Vladivostok Russia. The main thrust of this consulting activity was a combination of defense product conversion and the organizational restructuring required as each company moved from a command economy to a demand economy. He was appointed to the Advisory Board for the Center for International Business Education (CIBE) at the Daytona Beach Community College (now the Daytona State University) in 1996 and he regularly spoke on international business in seminars and workshops. Joe enjoyed the ocean and was passionate about fishing. He loved listening to Gregorian Chants especially those of the Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos of Spain Dave Brubeck's jazz music and Frank Sinatra's songs especially the one entitled "That's Life". Beloved husband father and grandfather Joe is survived by his wife Pilar; his sons Joseph Matthew and Michael; his daughter-in-law Maria; his granddaughter Caitlin; his nieces Susie De Rocher Sherri Farmer Sandy Johnson and Mary Ei Connors; his brother-in-law Chuck Johnson; his grand nephews Daniel De Rocher and Jason and Josh Farmer; grand nieces Megan De Rocher and Ailinn Conner.. He is predeceased by his father and mother Irving and Julia Teahan; his sisters Mary Connors and Eileen Johnson; his nephew Robert Connors. We shall miss you Youczhi and we love you much!!!
