A memorial service for Joseph E. Saufl age 87 of Daytona Beach who died on Friday September 12 2003 will be held on Thursday September 18 2003 at 6:30 pm at Ormond Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm until the start of the service.

Mr. Saufl was born in Chicago Illinois and moved to this area in 1958. He worked for the City of Ormond Beach as a water treatment operator from 1958 until his retirement. He served in the US Navy during WWII stationed in the Asiatic Pacific. He was a member of the Ormond Beach Moose Lodge the Eagles and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where he served as an usher for more than 40 years.

Among his many accomplishments he was a skilled saxophone and clarinet player and also won multiple gold medals as a bicyclist in the Senior Olympics.

Joe was preceded in death by Florence his wife of 48 years. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law Joseph A. and Nancy Saufl of Ormond Beach and Larry P. and Lisa Saufl of Deltona Florida; a sister and her husband Laverne and John Kolacia of Chicago Illinois; and two grandchildren Jennifer Saufl of Winter Park Florida and Kenneth Saufl of San Diego California.
