Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph McCarthy 90 of Ormond Beach who passed away at his residence on February 6 2011 will be held on Friday February 11 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Brendan Catholic Church 1000 Oceanshore Blvd. Ormond Beach FL. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. at The Florida National Cemetery 6502 SW 102nd Avenue Bushnell FL. His family will receive friends on Thursday February 10 2011 from 3 - 5 P.M. in the Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
He was born on March 24 1920 in Ireland to the late Peter and Theresa McCarthy. A Veteran of the US Army AirCorp serving from 1941-1945. He retired as a salesman from NCR in New York after 25 years and was the Owner and Operator of "Martco Paper and Ribbons" in Jacksonvile from 1976-1986. He moved to this area in 1986 from Jacksonville.
Joseph McCarthy was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church and was the past president of The Men's Golf Association at Tomoka Oaks Country Club.
He was a devoted husband and father.
Survivors include his four sons Michael of Ormond Beach Joseph of Jacksonville FL Timothy of N.C. and Peter (Tracey) of Jacksonville FL; three daughters Patricia (Edward) Blatt of Macungie PA Kathleen (Franz) Skryanz of NY NY and Theresa "Teri" McCarthy of Ormond Beach FL; five grandchildren James (Tatiana) Blatt Douglas Siobhan Amanda (Gregory) Carbone Jeb (Elena) Blatt and Nicholas (Beth) Blatt; and five great-grandchildren Meghan Sam Aiden Callum and Nathaniel.
He was preceded in death on December 15 2007 by his wife of 62 years Catherine.
