Joseph Di Mattina
Joseph Di Mattina, age 73, of Palm Coast passed away on October 20, 2021. Joe was born on August 24, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY to the late John and Rose Di Mattina. He grew up on Long Island, NY with his four siblings Francine Truncale, Roseanne Tantillo, Theresa Tepovich and the late Mary Shaw. Joe served in the Army as a paratrooper, he loved jumping out of planes and playing leapfrog in the air, he also served in Vietnam. Following his return home from Vietnam Joe met the love of his life Sharon, after three years they married and celebrated 48 wonderful years together. Joe moved to Florida after retiring from the teamsters union local 707, he worked for the City of Palm Coast as a supervisor of the ditch and pipe crew.
Joe loved life, he loved good food and good wine. He loved music; doo wop was his favorite. He liked to golf and watch football especially the Giants. Joe was all about family, he loved and protected his family above all else. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and brother-in-law. Joe was always available for his loved ones to help with a project, give advice or just give support with his calming presence.
Joe is survived by his wife Sharon Di Mattina, his daughters Christine Di Mattina (Ian Christensen), Nicole Di Mattina (Andy Zaragoza), his son Joseph Di Mattina (Lisa), his grandchildren Marissa Di Mattina, Ava Di Mattina, Evan Zaragoza, Justin Zaragoza, Zane Zaragoza, Joseph Di Mattina Jr and his great grandchildren Giovanni VanGordon and Lucca VanGordon.
A visitation will be held Wednesday October 27 th from 5:00pm – 7:30pm with a Funeral Service at 7:30 p.m. in Lohman Funeral Home, located at 220 Palm Coast Pkwy SW, Palm Coast, FL 32137. A burial with Military Honors will be held on Thursday October 28 th at 10:30 am at Jacksonville National Cemetery located at 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218
