Joseph E. (Jaybird) Lamkin passed on Wednesday the April 10th at 73 young years of age. Born in Raywick KY Jay spent his early years in Louisville where he served as a member of the Army Reserves. He moved to the Daytona Beach area 36 years ago and became a member of the American Legion Post 270. He worked in security at the Daytona Kennel Club as well as the Daytona Auto Auction. Jay enjoyed many hobbies through his life most cherished being classic cars and greyhound breeding/racing a good fish fight with a bass or pretty much any TV sport. Known to all whom had the pleasure of being around him as laughing and smiling his joyous personality made him someone you were pleased to spend time with. While we are sad that Jay is no longer with us we know that he will be missed by many and remembered by all who were given the opportunity to know him. Surviving family includes: His daughter Angela Applegate; his granddaughter Ashley and her husband Jeff and their two children Adrian & Leland; his brother & sister-in-law Joseph B. & Jean Lamkin; his sister & brother-in-law Nancy & Terry Coomer; his sister and brother-in-law Gracie & Donnie White; wife of deceased brother Bobby Carolyn Lamkin; ex-wife and good friend JoAnn Fiorello; and his many nieces nephews great nieces and great nephews. We ask that you join our family in celebrating Jay's life and remembering his laughter at the American Legion Post #270 located at 119 Howes St. Port Orange FL 32127 on Sunday April 21st beginning at 2:00pm with a service at 3:00pm.
