Joseph Thomas ""Tom"" Kuhr Sr. 84 of Port Orange Florida passed away on July 23 2012 peacefully at home. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday September 14 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the Memorial Service at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona with Pastor Daniel Kuhr officiating. Joseph was born and raised in Gainesville Florida. As a teenager Joseph and his family moved to Daytona Beach area. He attended Mainland High School where he was Captain of the Football Team and a graduate of the class of 1947. He went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Stetson University in DeLand. Joseph proudly served as a Sergeant in The United States Army during the Korean War Conflict. After his discharge Joseph was employed for 40 years as a Salesman/Buyer for Dunn Brothers Hardware store retiring in 1992. He was a very family oriented man enjoying family gatherings and picnics. Joseph will be remembered for his love of college football especially his beloved Gators. He also enjoyed watching old movies and gardening in his yard. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Cecelia Blanford Kuhr of Port Orange; three sons Joseph Thomas Kuhr II of Astor Jeffrey George Kuhr (Cheryl) of Jacksonville James Edward Kuhr of Port Orange; two daughters Deborah Marie Kuhr-Murtola of Navarre and Anita Darlene Kuhr-Koch (Jim) of Port Orange. Joseph also leaves behind his seven grandchildren five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
