Joseph S. Reeves
Funeral Services for retired U.S. Navy commander Joseph S. Reeves will be held on Thursday September 7, at 1:00pm at The Lohman Funeral Home, Ormond Beach FL. Leading the Celebration of his life will be Chaplain Mark Spivey. Family will receive guests and friends at the funeral home from 11:00am until the time of the service. Military Honors will also be presented at the service. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington Virginia with full Military Honors.
Mr. Reeves passed away August 25, 2017 at his home.
Joe was born June 23, 1926 in Mauricetown New Jersey the son of Joseph and Irene McClain Reeves. Joe graduated from High School in Mauricetown N.J.
He continued his education at Ohio University with a Masters in Business Administration.
He served 23 years of his life in the U.S. Navy where he achieved the rank of Commander. He served in the Berlin airlift at age 23 delivering coal. He, claimed with his sense of humor, delivered between tall buildings claiming without accidents.
During his service to our country Joe received many Medals including 2 Bronze Stars.
Joe Whiffed of wood, He loved to build furniture without nails using wooden pegs.
Joe was a farmer, a fisher, a carpenter, a CPA and mostly a Naval Pilot.
He became a Bridge Diamond Life Master. But most of all Joe fathered 3 children Joseph, Gordon, and Phyllis.Joe never wavered from honest, he was true to his word.
Joe wrote a book, Maurice River, a book about the river in early years.
There will never be another Joe Reeves.
