Joseph B. "J.B." McGehee, 93, went home to be with the Lord on October 4, 2020, in Boynton Beach, FL.

Born in Americus, GA, JB grew up in New Smyrna Beach where he was named "Best Dancer" at New Smyrna Beach High School. His love of God, family, country and the Florida Gators led to a very fulfilling life. He served in the Navy on the USS Boxer aircraft carrier during WWII. After the war, he earned his bachelor degree from the University of Florida, a diploma in bank finance from LSU, and a diploma in real estate finance from Ohio State University. He spent his career in the financial industry, retiring from banking in West Palm Beach. JB moved back to New Smyrna Beach in retirement and was active in his church and the community. He enjoyed the times he spent serving others and volunteering at the New Smyrna Museum of History.

He was a member of the board for the New Smyrna Beach Community and Alumni Providing Scholarships (CAPS). JB is survived by his children; Priscilla McGehee Flowers, Cynthia McGehee Burgin (Herbert), Franklin Russell McGehee , grandsons Aaron Michael Burgin (Stephanie) and Joshua Joseph McGehee (Sabrina),  and great grandchildren; Chloe Addison Burgin, Hayden Grace McGehee, and Harper Faith McGehee.

The interment service will be held Saturday, October 17 at 10:30 at Daytona Memorial Park 1423 Bellevue Ave., Daytona Beach, FL followed by a Celebration of Life service at Waterway West Clubhouse 315 N. Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169. Friends and family are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his honor to New Smyrna Museum of History, P.O.
