Joseph B. Galiardi, 87, of Port Orange, Florida, succumbed to cancer in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family and loving dogs on November 29, 2018.  Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Carol F. Galiardi, sons David Galiardi, Andrew Galiardi, and survived by his son Michael Galiardi, daughters Janae (Rick) Hose, Tanya Galiardi, granddaughter Alexis Avellino and step-grandson Conor Hose.

Joseph was a navy veteran, 1950-1954, serving in the Korean War.  He was stationed on the battleship USS New Jersey, with the rank of Gunner's Mate, Second Class, serving as a gun turret loader and salvage diver.

Joseph was born September 17, 1931 in St. Charles, Michigan to Anthony and Maria (Ruda) Galiardi. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1949 and Central Michigan University in 1959. On November 8, 1958 he married Carol Pendleton in Pontiac, Michigan. Joseph was a history teacher, and foreman at General Motors. He enjoyed coaching high school sports, hunting, cutting firewood and coffee with the guys.

Carol was born July 29, 1937 in Pontiac, Michigan to Clifford and Edna (Wyman) Pendleton. She graduated from Pontiac High School in 1955 and Central Michigan University in 1959. Carol was a special education, reading and Title 1 teacher. She was a pastor at Community of Christ and enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading and watching her granddaughter's dance performances. Carol passed away from complications of a stroke, on March 14, 2016.

The family will receive visitors between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM with a memorial service immediately following, Friday, December 28 at Lohman Funeral Home, 1201 Dunlawton Ave, Port Orange, FL 32129. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Foundation 37.
