Joseph C. Braddock, 79 a retired Supervisory special agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration, died Thursday April 6, 2017 while in the care of Hospice at Ormond Memorial Hospital.

A native of Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph J. Braddock and Sara A. Kitchenman. He was a graduate of Northeast Catholic High and LaSalle University. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Joseph began his law enforcement career with the Philadelphia Police Department, becoming a federal agent when he received his bachelor's degree. He served in positions of increasing responsibilities in Philadelphia, Singapore, New York City, Seoul, Korea and Washington, DC. Upon retirement he was employed by Wyeth Laboratories directed the corporations overseas security operations.



He retired and moved to Florida in 2000 and started Broad Oak International, a security and investigative consulting company. He was a member of the International Association of Chief's of Police, the Fraternal Order of Police, the New Jersey State Police Benevolent Association, the Association of Former Federal Narcotic Agents, The Marine Corps League, the AMVETS and the Elks.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Susan J Shoustal; two sons, Andrew Scott his wife Diane, and Steven Michael and his wife Mary Louise; and four grandchildren. He is also predeceased by his sister, Virginia R. Braddock.

A visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, prior to the 7 p.m. service at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange, 1201 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange, FL. Burial with military honors will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 13.
