Jose M. Ferreiras 87 of South Daytona Beach passed away on December 1 2011.
A visitation will be held on Monday December 5 2011 from 5pm-7pm at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona 1423 Bellevue Ave. Daytona Beach FL. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday December 6 2011 in the Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow the service at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery.
Jose was born on June 20 1924 to the late Jose Ferreiras and Rosa Nunez Ferreiras in Galicia Ferrol Spain. He enlisted in the Spanish Army at the age of fourteen serving until his discharge as Sergeant at seventeen. In 1963 he moved to the United States settling in New York. Jose was a Forman Engineer in the Ironworking Industry during the prime to New York City's growth. His Union set the foundation of ironwork for the Twin Towers and donated their time in resurfacing of the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building. He was a master craftsman and wonderful builder that was very well respected in his profession.
On his own most of all he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter that was he is life. He taught her how to ride a bike swim ice skate and loved watching her ride horses and going to her horse shows the same way he did for his daughter and wife. He also enjoyed reading and listening to Opera Music. But most of all he enjoyed being a devoted husband father and grandfather. Those he touched with his warm heart and incredible smile shall never forget him and he will be truly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Marina Ferreiras daughter Arleen Hill granddaughter Jessica Ann Gilbert great grandson Emerin Ferreiras and many extended family members and close friends.
