Jonnie M. Merritt 84 a resident of Princeton N.J. died Wednesday Nov. 10 following a brief illness.

Mrs. Merritt was the widow of John I. Merritt Jr. They lived in Montclair and Verona N.J. until retiring to Daytona Beach Fla. in 1998. Mrs. Merritt returned to New Jersey following her husband''''s death in January 2003. She was a resident of Stony Brook Assisted Living an extended-care facility in Pennington and later of Princeton Care Center a nursing home in Princeton.

She was born in Wichita Falls Tex. attended Baylor University and was a former member of the Montclair N.J. Golf Club and the Halifax Fla. Country Club.

Survivors include a daughter Kay M. McCrosky of New York City; a son John I. Merritt III of Pennington N.J.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Burial is private.
