Johnny W. Thomas 74 of Ormond by the Sea FL was a beloved father and best friend to many. He passed away after a lengthy illness at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs FL on Friday October 17 2008. The son of the late Tommie and Alene Thomas of Allendale/Fairfax S. Carolina. He was born October 23 1933 in Fairfax SC. He was a graduate of Clemson University and worked for the US Army Corp of Engineers in Atlanta and Savannah GA. He retired from the Corp in 1992. He moved to Ormond by the Sea FL in 1994 from Savannah GA. After moving here he got bored and got a job at Publix in the Ormond Mall. He was the treasurer of his Home Owners Association and very involved with the day to day involvement of his community. He is survived by his daughter Debra Donaldson and son-in-law John Ellsmore of Ormond by the Sea grandsons John and James Donaldson of Savannah GA his son Tommy Thomas Atlanta GA a step-daughter Melanie Meagher and two grandchildren Deanna and Jonathan Meagher of Ormond by the Sea FL a step-daughter Diane Atkins and 2 grandkids of Savannah GA several nieces and nephews and many friends. Daddy was always happy go lucky and touching someone's heart. Daddy liked to take long walks to the beach and sit to watch the waves. He'd walk to the river dock to see the sunset. He loved the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. He was a gentle kind and loving man who always loved to make people smile. Funeral services will be held on Friday October 24 2008 at 12:00 noon at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach FL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Johnny will be sent to his final resting place with his mother and father in Hampton South Carolina.
