John Richard Zust, 83, of Port Orange, Florida went to be with the Lord January 24, 2015. John was born November 10, 1931 in Washington D.C. to the late Albert F. and Helen C. Zust. John is survived by his wife and the love of his life Katherine Marie Zuest of 56 blessed years of marriage. His children, Michael Yates, Steven Zust, wife Patricia, Lynda Zust Williams, Husband Wayne, John R Zust II and his wife Sheryl. He also leaves behind his sister Helen Zust Cobb, two brothers Donald and Bobby Zust as well as 14 Grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
John was a captain in ROTC in high school, including a United States Navy Veteran as well as a 20 years Air Force veteran, having served proudly in Korea and Vietnam, Scotland, England, Germany, and Japan.
He honorably retired in 1971 and moved his family to Daytona Beach, Fl. The discipline, Pride and Patriotism he learned in the service to our Great Nation never left him as his family will attest. He worked several years with Brinks and Wells Fargo. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful father to his children and blessed their lives and passed to them to live with integrity. He will be greatly missed until we meet him in heaven.
Family will receive friends from 3:00 -5:00 pm Thursday, January 29, 2015 Funeral service to be held Friday, January 30, 2015 at 11:00 am at Lohman Funeral Home on Bellevue Ave in Daytona Beach, Fl. Followed by burial with military honors at the Veterans Garden of Glory. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donation may be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church on Taylor Road in Port Orange, FL where he was a member.
