Memorial services for John B. Thompson 71 of Daytona Beach who went home to be with Jesus on November 22 2006 will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday November 24 2006 at the Daytona Chapel of Lohman Funeral Homes with Rev. Nicholas Allen officiating. He was born on September 2 1935 to the late Cammie and Dolores Thompson in Columbus Georgia. He attended Baker High School in Columbus GA and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. John suffered a long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease but instead of slowing him down this only furthered his resolve to live each day to the fullest. He enjoyed football NASCAR racing his two dogs Corgi and Schnetzel and helping others; and was an active member in the Lions Club as well as a Republican Club member. Left to cherish memories of their lives together are his loving wife of 52 years Ruby; daughter Linda (Robert) Hendley; grandson Tanner Hendley all of Daytona Beach; brother in law Tom Lambert and family of La Grange GA; sister in law Kathleen McCollough and family of Cumming GA; and mother in law Nell Lambert of La Grange GA. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Conklin Center for Multihandicapped Blind 405 White St. Daytona Beach FL 32114.
