John Kenneth "Ken" Summers, 90, of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord Sunday, February 19,2023.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, June Poynter Summers, two daughters; Stacey Calladine (Roger), Heather Fox (Chris), and one stepdaughter; Becky Poynter.  Five grandchildren; Connor Calladine, Noah Summers, KaLee Summers, Rhiannon Fox, Craven Fox and two step grandchildren; Dusty Bronson (Ryan) and Luke Poynter (Sylvia), and many nieces and nephews.

Ken was born in Bluefield, VA and was the son of the late John and Anna Belle Summers.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife; Delores Odell Summers, one sister; Elayne Griffin, two brothers; Ronald Summers, and Thomas Summers.  He was also proceeded in death by one son; Jason Summers and one stepson; Walter Poynter.

Ken served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  After leaving the service he went to work as an engineer with Norfolk Southern Railroad and retired from there in 1994.  Ken loved serving the Lord, singing gospel music and going to gospel sings, watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball, and enjoying an ice cream cone on Sunday afternoons at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but we rejoice in knowing where he will be spending his eternal home and that those who believe will be reunited with him someday.

A memorial service will be held at the Ebenezer Methodist Church in Bluefield, VA on March 19, 2023 at 2:00pm. Graveside to follow.
