John Joseph Rising

December 8, 1949 ~ September 25, 2021

John J. Rising passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on September 25, 2021 at Halifax Health Hospice Port Orange, Florida. John was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut, spending his later years in Port Orange, Florida. John proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed and retired  as the waste water collection superintendent for the city of Port Orange, Florida. John was an active member of the New Hope Baptist Church. John will be remembered by his friends and family for his mischievous ways and joking manner, and for his love of tinkering around with cars, always having a home improvement project going, spending time with his family and putting together puzzles.

John was preceded in death by his parents John and Erika Rising and son J.R. He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years Janice Rising, his beloved dog Bear, daughters Dawna (Ben) O'Brien, Kelli (Ron) Ward, sons Andrew Rising (Veronica), Sean Rising, brother James (Rebecca) Rising, sister Sandy (Brian) Sugrue, grandkids Gavin Williams, Emma Ward, Benjamin (Shawnte') O'Brien, great grandkids Schuyler O'Brien, Makinnon O'Brien, Kaiden O'Brien, great great granddaughter Aryana O'Brien and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donations in Johns name may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church.

A visitation will be held at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida on Friday October 1, 2021 from 11 am to 12:30 pm. The Funeral Service will be at 12:30 pm, immediately following a committal service will be held at 2:00 pm at the Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery.
