John Petkus, 69, of Port Orange. FL passed away January 31, 2014. A Celebration of John's Life will be held on Wednesday, February 5th, 7:00pm at the Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange, with a gathering prior to the service from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
Born in Mt. Holly, NJ January 29, 1945, John lived a noble and caring life filled with loving family, enjoyment of great food and good wine and a passion for Red Sox baseball. He served in the Army from 1963 to 1967, married Kate Neal Petkus in 1967 and raised three children.
He is preceded in death by his oldest son, Bill, whom he now joins to enjoy great music, Sam Adam's lager and building decks to enjoy them on.
He received an Executive MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and worked in the medical manufacturing industry throughout his career. He enjoyed books and movies and loved to travel. His youngest son, Matthew, is Cardiac, Pulmonary and Imaging Service Line Administrator at Halifax Hospital and his daughter, Juli, is a Speech Language Pathologist for High Tech High Charter School in Chula Vista, CA.
He leaves five grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Lauren Yslas (Arturo), Rachael and Erin Petkus, daughter-in-law Veronica Petkus, Max and Alex Vazquez and son-in-law, Martin Vazquez. John leaves a legacy of love, honor and integrity to all who passed him by...
