Obituary

John Frederick Ott Jr. 94 of Ormond Beach passed away on July 5 2010. A Memorial Service to Celebrate John's life will be held on Monday July 12 2010 at 1:30 at First United Methodist Church 336 South Halifax Drive Ormond Beach. John will be laid to rest with a private family ceremony with full military honors at Volusia Memorial Park Cemetery on July 12 2010.
John was born in Buffalo New York on May 27 1916 to John F. Ott Sr. and Gladys Benke Ott. He enjoyed woodworking fishing boating golfing singing in the church choir and spending time with his family and friends. John enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps in 1942 and was a veteran of WWII. John married the love of his life Virginia (Ginny) Mae Rigley in September of 1942. They had two daughters. John worked as an aerospace engineer and later in the automotive industry for the Chrysler Corporation. John and his wife relocated to the Ormond Beach area from Acton Massachusetts 35 years ago. He was a previous owner of Mason Avenue Hardware store and a member of Memorial Ormond Beach Auxiliary for 14 years.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Ginny Ott of Ormond Beach FL; sister Margaret Pitcher of Michigan; daughters Janice (Matthew) Doyle of Dardenne Prairie MO; Marilynn (James) Knowles of Ormond Beach FL; grandchildren Lt Col (Dr.) James (Emily) Knowles of Salt Lake City UT; MSgt John (Julie) Knowles of Abilene TX; Steven (Laurie) Knowles of Radford VA; Jennifer (Christopher) Sparks of Detroit MI; Megan (Jonathan) Eady of St Charles MO; great grandchildren Shane Craig Brooke Craig Christopher Knowles Nicole Knowles Jack Knowles and Jake Knowles; as well as Michael Hobson caregiver and friend and many extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in John's honor to Hospice of Volusia Flagler 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange FL 32129 or to First United Methodist Church 336 South Halifax Drive Ormond Beach 32176.
