A visitation for John Wesley Munsey age 77 of Ormond Beach who died Friday October 7 2005 in the St. Luke?s Hospital/Mayo Clinic Jacksonville will be Tuesday October 11 2005 in Lohman Funeral Home Ormond with a Service to be held in Princeton WV on Friday October 14 2005.
Mr. Munsey was born on April 2 1928 in Princeton WV to John Wesley and Agnes Jones Munsey Sr. and moved to this area from Baltimore MD in 1985. John received his under graduate degree in speech and political science from Concord University Athens WV in 1956. He worked as an insurance investigator for the State of Maryland until his retirement in 1985 after 25 years of service. Mr. Munsey received numerous awards and certificates from the Daytona Beach Amateur Radio Assn. received the International Society for Professional Hypnosis Golden Pendulum Award in 1977 YMCA certification as a SCUBA instructor in 1961 along with his lifesaving certificate NRA basic marksmanship program instructor in 1984 and 2000 and was an active member of the Coquina Point Homeowners Assn. for many years. John was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Daytona Beach. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Cathryn a son Mark Wesley Munsey and his wife Mary P. Munsey of Orlando FL a brother Col. Jackson Lee Munsey of Columbia SC and 2 grandchildren Alexis Nicole and Michael Wesley.
