John Patrick Mansfield 75 born in Chicago Illinois in 1935 passed away peacefully at his home in Port Orange Florida on February 27 2011. John was the 7th child of 12 born to Catherine and Lyman Mansfield who have preceded him in death. John grew up in St. Petersburg Florida and after graduating from high school moved to the Maryland area where he worked as a foreman in construction. In 1979 his love for the sunshine State of Florida brought him and his family back to the Daytona Beach area. John's favorite time was being with his children and grand children and he loved talking and laughing over breakfast every morning at Earl Street Grill with friends. John had a very likeable personality and always had a kind word to say about every person he met. John was an avid Washington Redskins Football fan never missing a televised game wearing his Redskin T-shirt. He loved Nascar racing and going to the Daytona 500 races. He enjoyed feeding the squirrels and watching them play in the trees in his yard and had a very kind heart for animals including his newly adopted cat "Princess". John was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Palm Coast Florida. John is survived by: a daughter Lisa Schmidt of Port Orange FL (Michael) a daughter Kimberly Mansfield of Port Orange FL a son Arthur Mansfield of New Smyrna Beach FL (Carolynne) and a daughter Amy Johnson of Port Orange FL (Jay) a daughter Theresa Mansfield a daughter Joanne Venable and a son John Mansfield Jr. all from Virginia (from a previous marriage) a grandson Zachary Santorelli (Meghan) of St. Augustine FL a grand daughter Rebecca Schneider of Port Orange grandson Jaycob Johnson of Port Orange grandson Max Johnson of Port Orange and grandson Brayden Murphy of Port Orange FL and a host of brothers sisters nieces and nephews and his cherished girl friend Barbara Sebring. He will be deeply missed by all. Per his wishes a memorial service will be held on Daytona Beach later this month.
