John J. Lydon, 95, of Palm Coast passed away January 27, 2016. A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11am at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast. The family welcomes friends to gather one hour prior to the service.

John was born in Chicago, IL December 31, 1920 to Coleman and Ellen (nee Flaherty) Lydon. John served his country in the Coast Guard during WWII. After the military, John continued his service to others through his career as a Detective on the Scarsdale NY Police Dept for 22 years. He also volunteered for the Harrison Fire Department as Captain for 37 years.

John was a very sociable man. He is remembered for his laughter and fun. He enjoyed memberships in The Elks Lodge 2709 and in the Italian American Club of Palm Coast. John was also extremely athletic. He played semi pro basketball and baseball. He especially loved playing golf. John was a member of Lake Island Country Club in East Chester, NY and a charter member of Pelican Bay Country Club, and one of the founding members of Sand and Sea Golf Association.

John is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; and by his daughter Mary Ellen Burke and son-in-law John Burke of West Hills, CA; by several nieces and nephews, and by his faithful dog Angel.
