John Andrew Lundgren 94 of Port Orange went to be with the Lord Saturday March 5 2011 surrounded by his loving family. A Memorial Service in John's honor will be held on April 10 2011 at 4PM at United Presbyterian Church 730 Beville Road Daytona Beach FL. John was born in Worcester MA on September 15 1916 son of the late George & Anna (Peterson) Lundgren. John graduated from Shrewsbury High School then worked for Worcester Wire Works and retired in 1978 after 42 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy from 09/1942 to 01/1944 on the USS Melville & USS Melvin 680 Destroyer. While in the Navy he served in all major battles in the Pacific during WWII and received the Victory Medal Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal 3-Stars AM Theater Medal Phillipine Liberation Medal 2-Stars & the Good Conduct Medal. Left to cherish his memory his beloved wife of over 68 years Shirley (Stedt) Lundgren; 5-daughters Janice Wallen of Port Orange FL; Karen Osborne (Dennis) of NY; Arlene Stone (William) of IL; Joyce Thebodo (John) of MA; and Gloria Smith (Brian) of MA; 6-Grandchildren Robin Wesley of GA; Dennis Osborne IV Heather Chambers Scott Thebodo Steven Thebodo & John Stone; 14-Great Grandchildren Courtney Luke Corey Christian Raymond Nicole Dennis V Daniel David Deborah Dawn Callie Oriana & Harding; his life long dear friends Shirley Downer; Bill & Sadie Yeager. He is predeceased by his siblings Donald Lundgren Ralph Lundgren Dorothy McIntosh Kerstin (Chet) Johnson and 3-Grandsons Phillip Wesley Eric & Christopher Stone. John was baptized and confirmed in Epworth United Methodist Church in Worcester where he met his soul mate & wife Shirley. John was a devoted Christian and served in several churches in MA served as a deacon a Sunday school superintendent & youth advisor at the Millbury Baptist Church in MA.
