Obituary

John H. Harrington, 74, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed in peacefully on April 23, 2014, at home surround by his family. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, April 27th at 4:30 p.m. at Christ Presbyterian Church, 1035 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach.

John was born September 5, 1939 in Ft. Towson, Oklahoma to Orbie and Evelyn (Perry) Harrington. He attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK and went on to receive his Master's in education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley County; CO. He was an educator, serving in the capacity of a teacher, principal, and Director of Elementary Education in Denver Colorado.

He and his wife Georgia relocated to Ormond Beach in 1993 and John returned to the field of education, serving as Administrator and Area Assistant Supervisor of the Northeast area of Volusia County for five years. He enjoyed watching football, especially his beloved Denver Broncos; he also enjoyed listening to country music, reading, gardening, and traveling.

John is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Georgia Harrington of Ormond Beach, by his son, Eric J. Harrington, US Navy, his daughter, Amy (Brett) Stoner of Ormond Beach and by a sister, Leolia Craig, of Green Castle, Missouri, and three grandchildren, Quinton John Stoner, Riley Gene Stoner, both of Ormond Beach and Sidni Harrington of Denver, CO. He will also be missed by his extended family, Joanna Powell (Barbara), California, Vicki Fridle (Jim), Durant, OK, and Nicholi Dillow (David), Durant, OK. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Donald Ray and Carl D. as well as a sister Donna.

Memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to Florida Hospital Hospice Care or Christ Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
