Obituary

A Visitation for John R. Gondal 81 of Daytona Beach FL formerly of Indiana PA. who passed away on May 20 2009 at Emory L. Bennett State Veteran's Home in Daytona Beach will be held at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 West Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach.on Monday May 25 2009. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm Monday.
Born on December 24 1927 in Mt. Carmel PA. he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Kriskie) Gondal. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. A veteran of 28 years in the law enforcement field John retired in 1977 from Pennsylvania State Police having served as Officer-In-Charge of the Indiana Station. He served another 14 years of service in law enforcement when he was appointed Sheriff of Indiana County by Governor Milton Shapp in Jan. 1978 an office he held until Dec. 1992. John attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Daytona Beach and had previously been an active member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Indiana PA. He was a member of the PA. State Troopers Association the FL. State Troopers Association the American Legion Post #141 a life member of BPOElks Lodge #931 a member of Indigo Lakes Golf Club and a former member of the Indiana Country Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling and time spent with family and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Lucille (Kitchen) Gondal his daughter Susan Gondal Pividori and two brothers George and Michael. Survivors include his life partner Carol Raymond of Daytona Beach his daughter Lynette Gondal (John) Waterman of Conneautville PA. son-in-law Bryan Pividori of Homer City PA. and four grandchildren Autumn Pividori of Homer City Tory Spadafora of Ohio Thomas Spadafora of Ohio and John Waterman of Conneautville PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on May 29 2009 at 10:00am at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church with interment to follow in St. Bernard of Clairvaux Cemetery. Family will receive friends May28 2009 at Bowser-Minich Funeral Home 500 Ben Franklin Rd. Indiana PA.
