John L. Gatzke, 87, of Ormond Beach passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014. Mr. Gatzke was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Louis and Frieda (nee Hake) Gatzke. Mr. Gatzke proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. After military service, he attended and graduated from Pace University in New York City. Mr. Gatzke was employed at Crum Forster and achieved the title of Senior Auditor.

He was a Free Mason and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed reading and contributing to many charities. Mr. Gatzke and his wife Muriel moved to Ormond from Parsippany, NJ in the early 1990's.

Mr. Gatzke is survived by his niece Karen Ingrassia and her husband Frank of Sarasota, FL; by his sister-in-law Evelyn Gatzke of Sarasota, FL; and by his loving companion Louise Stacy of Ormond Beach, FL. He was predeceased by his wife Muriel, his son Glenn, his brother Paul, his parents, and his nephew Lawrence.

Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond and Leonardis Memorial Services in New Jersey. The family welcomes Friends to Gather in Mr. Gatzke's honor on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 2:00pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Interment will be at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, NJ Tuesday, April 29, 2014. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
