Obituary

John Haines Gallion, 93, of Daytona Beach, Florida, was surrounded by his family at his home at Bishop's Glen when he was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, April 8, 2019. He was born August 24, 1925 in Dublin, Maryland to John Haines and Margaret Fink Gallion. John served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was a banker and, during his retirement, a volunteer in a small community in Western North Carolina where he made an impact in many aspects of life for that area. John was a parishioner at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Daytona Beach. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed sailing, hiking in the mountains, white water rafting, and traveling. John always enjoyed having adventures and frequently reminded his family to be sure they did, too. Most of all, John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 70 years, Anne Rutter Gallion of Daytona Beach; his daughter, Susan Gallion Bégin, and her husband Ron of Ormond Beach; his son, Daniel Scott Gallion, and his wife Eileen of Sevierville, Tennessee; by five grandchildren, Brian Gallion (Sarah), Anne Bégin Myer (Rory), Adam Bégin (Jamie), Megan Gallion Shumate, and John Haines Gallion IV; and by seven great grandchildren, Renée, Liam, Claire, Hallie, Corinne, Jonathan, and Caitlynn. He was preceded in death by a son, John Haines Gallion III. A service of remembrance will be celebrated on Saturday, April 13th at 2:30 pm at Bishop's Glen Auditorium, 900 LPGA Blvd, Daytona Beach. Inurnment with Military Honors will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions made be made in John's memory to VITAS Healthcare, 2381 Mason Ave. Suite 100, Daytona Beach, FL 32117. Arrangements are under the care of Lohman Funeral Home, Ormond Beach. Condolences for the family may be shared at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com
