On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, John (Jack) Kumiega, loving husband and father of 2 children, passed away at age 79. He was a retired Detective Sergeant from the Suffolk County Police Department on Long Island, New York.

Jack was born on February 28, 1942 in Lackawanna, NY to Joseph and Marguarite (Stoklosa) Kumiega.

On August 31, 1963 he married Kathleen McLaughlin Kumiega. They raised two daughters, Kerri and Kristine.

Jack was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, his mother Marguarite,  and his sisters MaryAnn Eberle and Patricia Kumiega.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen (Murf) and his two children Kerri  (Jack) Smithers  and Kristine (Eric) Nawrocki , 4 grandchildren, Danielle (Hailey) Smithers, Kyle Nawrocki, Ryan Nawrocki, Grace Smithers and one great grandson, Landon Smithers, his sisters Natalie (Walter) Kaczor and JoAnn (Fred) Keller and several nieces and nephews.

Jack loved his Corvette and his Corvette friends in the Ponce Inlet Corvette Club.  He was a Ham Radio operator for 66 years and had a great group of friends who enjoyed talking to him on the radio as well as getting together at Ham Radio functions.

There will be a wake at Lohman's Funeral Home,  1201 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange on Tuesday, June 1 ^st , 2021 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.  A funeral mass will be held 8:30 AM Wednesday June 2 ^nd , 2021 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 4675 South Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL.
