John Paul Fowler, Sr.

September 6, 1947 – October 13, 2025

John Paul Fowler, Sr., 78, of Ormond Beach, Florida, longtime resident of Whiting, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family who adored him. Born on September 6, 1947, in Clinton, Tennessee, Paul lived a life grounded in love, laughter, and devotion to those he held dear.

He was the beloved husband of Jeanne (Kristek) Fowler for 55 wonderful years. The two were married on November 8, 1969, and together built a life rich in love, family, and memories that will last forever. Paul was a proud and loving father to Carrin R. Minahan (Thomas), Amy E. Adams (Greg), Michael R. Fowler, and John P. Fowler, Jr. His joy only multiplied as "Paps" to his fifteen cherished grandchildren: Thomas, Mallory, Meghan & Trevor Minahan; Darin, Olivia & Dylan Adams; Rachel, Annabelle, Michael, Lillian, Johanna, Caroline & Benjamin Fowler; and Jaina Fowler. He is also survived by siblings, Janice R. Smelcher, W. Ron Fowler, and Diane S. Cooksey (David Roche); and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, W. Raymond and Parley Ophelia "Dude" Fowler; brother, David Raymond Fowler (Mary); and sister, Rose Anne Jansky.

Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Nakhon Phanom, Thailand during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he began a long and dedicated career at LTV Steel, where he worked until his retirement in 2001.

A true family man, Paul found his greatest happiness in time spent with those he loved. He could often be found giving grandkids rides on the lawn tractor, tending bonfires, camping under the stars, or building playsets and model trains. With a quick wit, easygoing charm, and a heart as steady as his hands, he was the quiet pillar of his family—always ready with a clever quip or helping hand.

In his later years, Paul and Jeanne relocated to Ormond Beach, Florida, where he embraced the tropical warmth, cared lovingly for his lawn and flowers, and spent hours tinkering in his garage—his happy place.

Paul's presence filled every room with humor, warmth, and love. His laughter, patience, and devotion will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A Gathering of Friends and Family will take place at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond, 733 W Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174, 386-673-1100, starting at 10 AM, followed by a 12 PM Funeral service on Saturday, October 18th, 2025.
