John A Finch 89 beloved father grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at his home in Port Orange on January 18 2007. John an only child was born in Rootstown Ohio on August 30 1917 to Harry Jefferson and Sadie Lois Bradshaw Finch. He resided in Ohio for many years before moving to the Daytona Beach Shores area in 1967.

John is survived by 5 children daughters Jean Luddeni of Ormond Beach Kathy Kilcrease of Ocala Jolene Godfrey of Port Orange and sons Ted Hobart of Tahachepi Ca. and Jon Finch of Archer Fl. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren Kerry Justin Diana Rob Andrea Jeffrey and Nicholas and 11 great-grandchildren

After graduating from Rootstown High School in 1935 John attended Kent State University and then Ohio State University. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1940 with a degree in Chemical Engineering and worked for Atlas Powder Company for several years following his graduation. He married Arlene Seeman on July 14 1945 and they settled in Lake Milton Ohio to raise a family. During that time he worked for Graef Storm Window Company in Youngstown Ohio as an executive of the company. In 1965 following the death of his wife Arlene to a cerebral hemorrhage he married Ruth Wallstrom Hobart. In 1967 they moved to the Daytona Beach Shores area where they owned and ran a small motel the Vagabond for a number of years. They were involved in various community activities and were active members of the Halifax River Yacht Club. After losing Ruth to cancer in 1982 he married his third wife Bernadine Zeman in 1983. Bernadine lost a battle to cancer in 1991.

A memorial service commemorating John's life will be held at Baggett and Summers Funeral Home in Daytona Beach at 1:00 pm on Monday January 22nd. Family and close friends are invited to attend
