IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Alexander
Dimitriou
March 3, 1930 – June 8, 2025
John Alexander Dimitriou, 95, of Deltona, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2025.
Born in Alexandria, Egypt, on March 3, 1930, John was the only child of Mary and Alexander Dimitriou. In 1950, he traveled to the United States to pursue his education and attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Chemistry.
In 1959, John founded an outdoor testing facility in South Florida dedicated to the endurance weathering of paints, plastics, textiles, and other materials. He successfully ran the business alongside his family for over three decades, leaving a lasting impact in the field.
John felt most at peace outdoors. He especially enjoyed spending time at the beach swimming and fishing and was a collector of rare fossils and earth minerals. His deep love for nature extended to animals, and he had a special fondness for beagles—he owned many throughout his life and cared for each one dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joy; his daughter, Sandy Walker, and son-in-law, John Walker; his stepdaughter, Melissa Rasco; and two step grandchildren, James Rasco and Emily Rasco.
John's optimism, generosity, and devotion to his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
