John L. Cogdill (RMC Retired) 73 of Daytona Beach went home to be with the Lord on Thursday May 5 2011. A visitation will be held on Monday May 9 2011 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona 1423 Bellevue Ave. Daytona Beach FL 32114 from 12pm until 1pm. Funeral services will begin at 1pm with burial to follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. John was born on August 25 1937 to the late Ernest and Helen Cogdill in Clinton South Carolina. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy and retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 23 years of service. Following his service in the Navy John worked as a Postal Carrier for the US Government. He also was owner and broker of Big Bend Realty in Tallahassee Florida. John was a member of the Civitans a former Boy Scout leader Sunday School Superintendent at Evangel Assembly of God of Tallahassee board member of First Assembly of God of Tallahassee and board member of Victorious Life Church in Daytona Beach. He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Helen Cogdill and son John D. Cogdill. John will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Gloria Cogdill of Daytona Beach brother Vernie L. Cogdill of Greenwood South Carolina son Tim Cogdill and Tim's wife Jennifer of McCall Idaho who have five children. John's five grandchildren affectionately referred to him as "Pa".
