John Chapdelaine 81 passed away at his home in Ponce Inlet on Tuesday March 15 2011. A memorial service will be held on Monday March 21 at 2 p.m. With A gathering from 1-2pm at the Lohman Funeral Home 1201 Dunlawton Ave. in Port Orange.
Mr. Chapdelaine was born in Brockton MA. After graduating from high school he completed a tour in the U.S. Air Force and then attended the University of Nevada Reno where he earned a degree in civil engineering. His engineering career involved work for the State of California U.S. Department of State and International Broadcast Systems and included postings to Thailand and Greece.
He enjoyed bicycling skiing and photography as well as creating photographic/memorial CDs and calendars. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and love of music.
Mr. Chapdelaine is survived by two children Linda Chapdelaine Davimes of Reno NV and Brad Chapdelaine of Great Falls MT; five grandchildren Geri Rory and Marni Davimes and Carly and Tierra Chapdelaine; three brothers Leo Chapdelaine of Duxbury MA Paul Chapdelaine of Salem NH and Russell Chapdelaine of Taunton MA; and many nieces and nephews.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to The American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
