CMSgt John E Adkins, USAF (Retired), age 68, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2015 at Stuart Meyer Hospice House in Palm Coast, FL, surrounded by his son and daughter. Chief Adkins was preceded in death by his parents, Leo & Bessie Adkins, and his wife, Mildred Anita Adkins. He is survived by his children, John Adkins Jr, Michelle Monds (Willie), and Cory Adkins; his stepdaughter, Catherine King (Scott); his grandchildren, Shanequa Monds, Keenan Adkins, Janie Monds, Jasmine Carswell, Kiaya Adkins, Aaliyah Monds, Jaden Adkins and Adelyn Richardson; his siblings, Leo Adkins (Trace), Wanda Adkins (Cleavant) and Ron Adkins. Chief Adkins was born on October 28, 1946 in Wichita, KS. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on June 13, 1966 and retired on November 30, 1993. In addition to his successful military career, CMSgt Adkins was also NJROTC instructor with St. Louis Public Schools (Soldan International Studies) beginning June 20, 1994 and retired on June 30, 2007, where he was very loved and admired by his students and peers. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Darlene Marr, his home health nurse who provided great care and friendship throughout his illness, and the staff at Stuart Meyer Hospice House for the comfort, kindness and care extended to Chief Adkins and his family. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast.
