Joey Fernandes Fortes age 26 of Altamont Springs formerly of Port Orange was unexpectedly taken from us on Monday August 22 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial in his honor will be held Saturday August 27; 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Hope Church 4675 Clyde Morris Ave. Port Orange followed by an interment and military honors at Daytona Memorial Park. A viewing from 5:00 -8:00 PM with a vigil at 7:00 will be held at the Port Orange Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Homes.

Joey was born in Boston Massachusetts to John and Rosa Fortes he was a graduate of Atlantic High School and member of the ROTC. He was a fun loving social gentleman and a proud US Army Veteran recently returning from Iraq who enjoyed great music dancing traveling and sharing his joy with all those who knew him.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Melanie his broken hearted parents; John and Rosa Fortes a son by marriage; Giovanni a grandmother; Idilia Fernandes 2 brothers : Manuel "Manny" Fortes and his wife Caroline and John Fortes 2 nieces; Jaden and Leah and several loving aunts uncles cousins extended family and friends. Arrangements are under the entrusted care of Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange.
