Joe Alan Williams, 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 2 ^nd , 2021 with his wife, son and daughter-in-law by his side.

Joe was born in Daytona Beach, FL and spent is life there, many times joking that he was one of the few "native Floridians".  He was a veteran and served honorably in the Navy immediately following his graduation from Mainland High School in 1961.  Following his time in the service Joe held several positions from being a bread salesman for Wholesome Bakery (which is likely where he developed his love of honey buns) to a licensed private investigator to charter boat captain before joining the Daytona Beach Police Department.

During his 24 years with the Police Department Joe progressed through the ranks to sergeant, was a senior field training officer, and was a founding member of the Department's K-9 unit with his partner Dutch. Most notable though is the amount of time that he spent at the donut shop on Ridgewood where he met his wife Karen. Many jokes were had over the years about the cop finding love in a donut shop. Joe finally retired in 2000 in order to spend more time with his family.

Throughout his life Joe loved off-shore fishing, trips to the keys, riding motorcycles, attending ERAU basketball games.

During his retirement, Joe loved watching stocks and market trends, and would talk about them to anyone who was willing to listen. He also was an active volunteer at the Volusia Count Skeet and Trap Club, which had become his second family.

Joe could brighten your day with just a smile, a good laugh, and the many stories he would often share.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Karen and his son Joe, Jr., daughter in law Jill, new fur baby Snickers, and grand fur babies Murphy and Molly.  He is predeceased by his parents, George and Edith, his sister, Loie, brothers Jimmy and Bill.

The family will have a private graveside ceremony on Friday, May 7 ^th and there will be a celebration of life at the Volusia County Skeet and Trap club at 10am on Saturday, May 15 ^th for all who wish to attend.
