Joe David Richards 73 passed away April 21 2012 following a brief illness. Joe was a winter resident of Port Orange FL and a lifelong resident of Shinnston WV. He was preceded in death by his parents Lyda ""Hop"" Richards and Grace (Dorsey) Richards. Also he was preceded in death by three brothers L.A. Jr. Jack and infant Rusty Richards. Joe was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy (Bartlett) to whom he was married for 53 years. He was the caring father to Lisa (Joseph) Morgan Jay Richards both of Shinnston and Carla (Robert) Morgan of Mannington. He was the grandfather of Kristi Marra Melissa Maxwell and Danielle Morgan and great-grandfather of 2. He will also be missed by his cat companions Miss Prissy Cleopatra and Delilah. Joe was a Coal Miner his entire career. Early in his career he held several positions including Mine Foreman. He then became a MSHA Mine Inspector and later Supervisor. After leaving MSHA he started his own Mining Companies Jo-Lee Coal was a partner in 3Power Coal and finished his career as Owner-operator of Scorpio Mining. When he retired he and his wife Nancy focused on traveling to NASCAR races attending several races per year. He also enjoyed hunting home projects riding Harley Motorcycles working in his yard and helping his neighbors. Following his wishes he was cremated.
